Matt Scala

Matthew is a recent graduate of Plymouth State University with a degree in Music, focusing in vocal performance, music theatre arts, and music direction. At Plymouth, Matt was an active member of both the University Chorale and Chamber Singers, working alongside Dr. Daniel Perkins as his Choral Fellow. He was very active within the theatre department, performing in multiple shows, his favorite being Charley Kringas in Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. In addition to performing in these shows, he was given the opportunity direct three productions.

While his focus may have been in musical theatre, Matt simultaneously studied classical music. Most recently, he performed in Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas, performing solos by both the title characters. He enjoys all areas of music, having experience playing guitar, ukulele, piano, and clarinet. Matt is very excited to start teaching at the Gorham School of Music, and he hopes he can only add to the already wonderfully established atmosphere!
